Ethiopia’s airliner fleet is up to date, the country’s tourism minister, Mahmoud Dirir Ghedi, told Saudi newspaper Okaz in an interview published on Tuesday following the crash of Flight 409 on Monday morning shortly after takeoff from Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport.
Ghedi denied reports that the crash was a result of technical failure, adding that all Ethiopian airliners are state of the art.
The Ethiopian Airlines company hired experts in the field of plane catastrophes to investigate the incident, Ghedi said.
