The Swiss Comity for Scientific Awards has chosen Antalya as the best holiday resort in the Mediterranean Sea.

The awards will start on Wednesday 29th October at the city of Lugano, Switzerland and will be given to Mehmet Aktekin, Secretary of Antalya Buyuksehir Borough.

Aktekin will not only receive the award which has great meaning for Antalya but also be the representative of Antalya at the stand that will open at the awards ceremony.

A letter signed by organiser of the Swiss Comity for Scientific Awards, Laura Bellorini and president Alessendo Strazzanti has been sent to Antalya Büyükşehir Borough explaining the reasons why they chose Antalya as the best holiday resort in the Mediterranean.

The letter stated:
“The Antalya area has a natural beauty and breath taking views. Also the Duden Waterfall that can be reached via the Lara road and is one of the most beautiful sites I’ve ever seen. The beautiful sites do not end here. The Kursunlu Waterfall is also part of the beauty of Antalya. Just these few examples are enough for us to give this prestigious award to Antalya. Antalya has great hotels such as Club Hotel, Titanic Hotel, Hillside Water Hotel and very high profile locations such as, Kemer, Alanya, Kas, Manavgat, Side and many more. With this award Antalya will have much more popularity, especially from the Swiss and North Italian markets”

Aktekin later sent a letter to the press stating ”Antalya is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Areas such , Kemer, Alanya, Kas and Manavgat makes Antalya standout from the crowd. We have beautiful hotels in Antalya such as Club Hotel, Titanic Hotel, Hillside Water Hotel, Sheraton Hotel and many others. We are proud of out achievements and are planning many more new tourist attractions so that we are recognised not only by Europe but by the World. Great areas such as our famous Antalya waterfalls are also very popular so I am not very surprised by the award but very frilled”
