Chi Minh road, linking the country’s north and south, a dream come true of the Assistant Manager of Operations of the Cuban Consulting and Supervision firm QCI, Angel Orozcom and Manager of the Vietnamese investor of this ambitious national project PMU, Lam Van Hoang, signed the document today, on the occasion of the anniversary of Ho Chi Monh’s birthday and the fall in combat of Cuba’s National Hero Jose Marti.
QCI specialized services will cover 82 km of road from Danang city to Hue province, also including 65 bridges of different length and complexity, and a 1,280-mt long tunnel, among other works.
It is the second stage of a monumental endevour started in 2000, with Cuban aid, that the Communist Party decided to carry out, aware of the importance of transportation to the country’s renovation and industrialization goals.
According to the plan, the road starts from Pac Bo, in the northern border, considered the craddle of the Revolution, trhough Ca Mau, in the southern tip, and once complete it will be 1,176 km-long.
The idea to open what it was known as “Ho Chi Minh Road” in the war of resistance against US aggression was to support comrades in the south fighting for national liberation, and for a number of years workers, fighters and people in general had to overcome difficulties and steep mountains to plotting it.
Turned into a symbol of the unshakeable will of the Vietnamese people, the initiative was relaunched in 2000 to comply with Ho Chi Monh’s legacy that the homeland and the people are one, which was recalled before signing the contract by General Manager of QCI here, Juan Carlos Vilaragut.
The contract signing ceremony was also attended by Cuban Ambassador Herminio Lopez and Trade Councilor Loida Rivera, as well as other Vietnamese officials.
