An 18 hole floating golf course may sound like one big water hazard, but plans to build one are already underway in the Maldives.
The Dutch Docklands company, an expert in floating technology, will be overseeing the $500 million project, and says the course will be full of world class facilities including underwater tunnels between holes and hotels.
Developers claim the course will have an environmental impact of zero, using technologies such as water-cooling, sweet water collection floating on saltwater and floating solar blanket fields.
The new course will be located five miles from Malé International Airport, and one of only a few courses that can claim to be next door neighbours with both luxury hotels and a coral reef.
