There has been a rise of 10 percent in foreign tourist arrivals in July this year as compared to the corresponding period last year, an official statement said Monday.
The number of foreign tourists who came to India in July this year was 4.98 lakh, up from 4.52 lakh last July.
This was also higher than the growth registered last year – 4.5 percent – over the previous year.
Also, the number of foreign tourists who came in July this year was higher than in June.
“The foreign tourist arrival (FTA) during the period January-July 2011 was 34.17 lakh with a growth of 10.8 percent over the corresponding period in 2010,” the statement said.
