French Airport Strike in 12th Day

french airport strikeSeveral unions of Airport security agents in France signed on Monday an agreement to end the strike initiated 12 days ago in demand of salary increase and better work conditions.

The groupings Work Force, French Confederation of Christian Workers, the National Unit of Autonomous Union and the French Democracy Labor Confederation, decided to accept the payment of an annual bonus offered by the employers.

For its part, the General Labor Confederation said that before signing this agreement needs to consult with their bases, where they will take a decision.

This morning the security agents at the airports Rossy-Charles de Gaulle and Lyon-Saint-Exupéry had agreed at a general assembly to extend the strike, although their impact on the operation of air terminals was already reduced.

Because of the refusal of private companies to negotiate the demands of their employees, the protest spread right during the first stage of the year-end holidays, when significantly increases the number of travelers.

Last Thursday the Ministry of Interior deployed police to replace workers on strike, in a move widely criticized for undermining the right to strike, recognized on the French constitution.
