A fire at Soma Hotel in northern Iraq killed 29 people and wounded 22 others Thursday night.
A security official said the fire in Iraq’s relatively stable and violence-free Kurdish region was not a terrorist act and the cause was under investigation.
Local officials said Friday women and children were among those killed in the fire, which started in the middle of the night in a central area of Sulaimaniyah city.
They said at least three people died jumping from the third floor to escape the flames.
Officials added the blaze at the Soma Hotel was likely caused by an electrical problem.
