According to a report by the ADAC, Italy will lift all corona restrictions on entry from Wednesday (June 1). A 3G proof is then no longer necessary.
Entry rules are lifted
So far, the following still applies: Anyone entering Italy from Germany or another EU or Schengen country must present either proof of vaccination, proof of complete recovery from the corona virus or a negative antigen or PCR test. This rule will no longer apply from June 1st. Then you no longer need any proof to enter Italy.
2G proof only required in healthcare
As early as May 1st, 2022, the corona proof requirement for access to services and infrastructure within Italy was abolished. The 2G rule continues to apply exclusively for access to healthcare facilities, such as hospitals and care facilities.
Mask requirement only in certain areas
According to the Federal Foreign Office, it is still compulsory in Italy to wear FFP2 masks on local and long-distance public transport and at cultural and sporting events in closed rooms until June 15, 2022.
Since February 11, it has no longer been compulsory to wear a face mask outdoors in Italy. Italy was the first country in Europe to make masks compulsory outdoors in spring 2020.
The Corona situation in Italy
In the country with around 60 million inhabitants, the daily number of new infections has recently fallen steadily. The number of new infections is currently 7846, the 7-day incidence is 230.5 (as of May 31, 2022, source: corona-in-zahlen.de)
Entry from Italy to Germany
So far, returnees from Italy have needed a PCR test or rapid antigen test, which must not be longer than 48 hours. From Wednesday (June 1st), the 3G requirement for entry into Germany will no longer apply. Then no more proof is required for the return from Italy to Germany.
