Another big win for Munich Airport: The Bavarian hub has yet again been ranked number one among Europe’s top airports in 2017.
For the tenth time in the past 12 years, Munich Airport has been honored with the title of “Best Airport in Europe” in the World Airport Awards announced annually by Skytrax, a renowned aviation research firm based in London.
In the global list, Munich achieved an outstanding number four ranking. Number one in the world is once again Singapore’s Changi Airport. For this year’s survey, Skytrax collected responses from around 14 million passengers from 106 countries to arrive at ratings for 550 airports.
The award was presented to Munich Airport CEO Dr. Michael Kerkloh in Amsterdam at a special ceremony on the occasion of the Passenger Terminal EXPO 2017, an international trade fair for the airport sector.
“We’re delighted that Munich Airport is still among the world’s best,” said Dr. Kerkloh. “This prestigious award shows that Munich Airport is also seen as very hospitable and efficient when compared with top international airports. We owe that to the commitment of the entire airport family, who work hard every day to make sure that passengers feel very comfortable at our airport.”
The reasons for Munich Airport’s outstanding results in the ratings were friendliness and competence of airport staff, the amenities and the pleasant atmosphere. Further, the hotel Hilton Munich Airport was honored as “Europe’s best airport hotel”.
Accepting the award, Dr. Michael Kerkloh said, “This amazing recognition from our passengers is the best motivation for continuing on our successful path.”
