The Seychelles tourism board has appointed Ms Pearl Hoareau as its tourism ambassador to Uganda in a move that saw eleven others posted to different countries.
Seychelles is the first country to have taken the initiative of appointing their citizens as tourism ambassadors in their areas of operation in the world to work alongside their tourism board offices.
In a press statement to the Daily Monitor, at the official opening of the 2010 tourism marketing meeting in Victoria, Mr Alain St Ange, the Seychelles director of tourism marketing, said the Seychelles overseas offices will now have added support to adequately serve “our tourism markets.”
“The ambassadors will be Seychellois living and working in the four corners of the world. They will be like consuls, but here only to promote and continuously help develop Seychelles as the tourist destination,” Mr St Ange said last week.
