The Department of Tourism, Himachal Pradesh, will organise “Trekking Programmes” in three selected treks of Kullu, Shimla and Kangra Districts in India between the 15th of September & October 1st, 2009 in collaboration with the Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports, Manali.
Smt. Manisha Nanda, Principal Secretary (Tourism) said here today that Himachal Tourism was striving hard to promote Himachal Pradesh as an adventure sports Destination. The organisation of trekking programmes is one of the steps in this direction. These treks will be covered in four days and total group strength of trekkers would be 30 people each.
The trek routes are Manali-Solang-Buckerthach-Beas Kund (Height 6000 feet to 12500 feet), Khara Pathar-Giriganga-Kupu-Jubbal (Maximum height 11200 feet) and Dharamshala-Triund-Indrahara Pass (Maximum height 4350 meter). The applications have been invited by the Tourism Department for participating in these trekking routes from the interested persons. The last date of receiving applications for Manali-Beaskund trek has been extended upto 7th September 2009 and four days trek event would start from 15th September, while the last date for receiving the applications for Kharapathar-Giriganga & Dharamshala-Triund trek has been extended upto 25th September, 2009. These events would start from 1st October 2009 in the above two routes.
She said that it would be an endeavor of the Department in future to widen the scope of trekking programmes by including more treks.
