Turkish Airlines has launched the new destination to Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine.
(AA) Turkish Airlines launched its new destination to Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine Wednesday, it was announced.
A Boeing A320-200 of the airline landed in Kherson about 75 minutes after it departed from Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport. A welcome ceremony of the newly-launched flights was organized at the Kherson International Airport.
Kherson Regional State Administration Chairman Andriy Putilov, Turkey’s Ambassador to Ukraine Can Yonet Tezel and Turkish Airlines’ Sales and Marketing chief Ziya Taskent were among those who attended the ceremony.
“Ukraine is an important market for Turkish Airlines as we have been present in the country for more than 20 years,” Taskent said.
He said the airline has been chosen as Europe’s best for four consecutive years and the company was still growing.
Putilov said it was an important day in Kherson’s history as “such a large aircraft has never before landed at the Kherson airport.”
“It will open doors to new investments and increase the region’s economy,” he added.
Turkish Airlines will offer flights from Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport to Kherson four times a week on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
